As a steward of broadcast standards and practices, the Missouri
Broadcasters Association (MBA) knows the importance of training
to be competent and confident when entering the work force. Experience
has become an essential element for the successful job seeker as
employers are increasingly requiring applicants to have demonstrated
ability. The Missouri Broadcasters Association Foundation has developed
a program designed to assist students in attaining on-the-job training
as a part of their higher education.
The following information contains application criteria as well
as an outline for the selection process. For further information

The Missouri Broadcasters Association informs members about training
opportunities, trends and policies while providing a voice for broadcasters
in both state and federal political arenas. The MBA encourages high
industry standards and practices, recognizing that credibility is
important and ethical conduct is necessary to maintain the trust
of clients and the public. Our members support equal opportunity

The MBA Internship Program was established as a part of a commitment
to excellence, so that deserving students may attain the training
and expertise required to become valuable employees in Missouri's
broadcasting industry. For more information about the Missouri Broadcasters

Criteria
- Internship opportunity limited to Missouri Broadcasters Association
member stations.
- Applicant must be a Junior or Senior, currently attending a
Missouri college or university.
- Applicant must be enrolled in broadcast or a related curriculum
that provides training and expertise applicable to a broadcast
operation.
- Applicant must receive college credit for internship. The ratio
of work hours to credit hours received shall be at least 40 to
1.
- Applicant must obtain approval from the supervising faculty
member and the MBA member station prior to application.
- Applicant must be supervised by a faculty member.
Selection Process & Award
The Internship Committee of the MBA will review all applications
of the committee's decision. Recipients will receive notification
of their acceptance no later than August 1st for fall internships.
December 1 5th for spring internships and May 1-sl for all summer
internships.
Upon completion of the internship, recipients will provide the
Internship Committee with a written report detailing their work
experience and what skills they have learned. Upon receipt of the
written report, interns within the program will receive $250 for
each credit hour earned up to a maximum : $ 1 ,000. No payments
will be made by the MBA prior to the receipt of the written report.
Application Process
The applicant must provide a packet, which contains the following:
- The completed MBA internship application.
- A letter detailing how the experience will apply to the student's
career plan.
- A letter from the participating station accepting the student
as an intern.
- A resume
Application and supporting documents must be received by the MBAno
later than June 1st for fall intem-ships, October 15th for spring
internships and March.. 1st for summer internships.
